On December 26, 2024, at 3 p.m., the jubilee exhibition “Oner Kupiyasy” by artist, teacher, member of the Union of Artists of Kazakhstan Zamabenkova Sholpan Dzhakupovna opens at the Central State Museum of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
Sholpan Zamanbekova was born on September 30, 1964 in the city of Zharkent, Panfilov district, Almaty region. In 1987, she graduated from the N.V. Gogol Almaty Art College with a degree in Fabric and Knitwear Coloring, and in 2009 from T.Arabaev University in Bishkek with a degree in Fine Arts.
She started her professional career at the Karaganda knitting factory “Saltanat” as a fashion designer. Later she worked as a graphic designer and decorator in Almaty and Zharkent. From 2004-2023, she worked at the Abylkhan Kasteev Art Gallery in the city of Zharkent as a tour guide and chief curator, where she founded a children’s art studio and was engaged in teaching. From 2007 to 2017, she taught the disciplines of Cultural Studies and Psychology at the College of Economics and Finance. In 2021-2023, she worked as a teacher of fine arts at the Art-Sport Zhalyn Children’s Center. Currently, he is a restorer of paintings and graphics at the Central State Museum of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
For more than 40 years of creativity and 21 years of museum activity, Sholpan Dzhakupovna has made a significant contribution to the development and preservation of national culture, passing on her knowledge to the younger generation. Today, her students successfully work in various fields of activity.
Sholpan is a multifaceted artist with diverse interests, working in various techniques: decorative and applied arts, batik, painting and graphics. Her work covers a wide range of topics, such as the origins of Kazakh history (“Kazaktyn tanbalary”, “Medieval cities”, “Legend of the city of Saraishyk”) and the national traditional art of the Kazakhs.
A special place in her work is occupied by works inspired by her native places. These works are imbued with love for the beauty of the Zharkent valley.: watercolor paintings “Kuz”, “Tan”. Subtle spiritual lyricism can be seen in the landscapes of Zhetisu (“Kantar”, “Lesnovka”, “Sarqand”, “Arkas tau”, “Shezhin”), as well as in the images of cozy courtyards and gardens (“In my garden”), urban landscapes of the capital (“Yesil”, “Astana”) and the eternal theme of motherhood (“Ana meirimi”). Her works reflecting the stages of the formation of the country and her native land, such as “Zharkent of the Future” and others, also arouse interest.
Sholpan Zamanbekova is a corresponding member of the Academy of Arts of the Republic of Kazakhstan and a member of the Union of Artists of Kazakhstan.
She is a participant in numerous international, national and regional exhibitions and competitions, such as: Nauryz (China, FEZ, 2013); exhibition dedicated to the 550th anniversary of the Kazakh Khanate (Almaty, 2015); Zhernaty – Zhetisu (2019); KRKSA – 15 years (2022 Almaty); plein air “Tugan Zherim – tugyrym” (2023, Taldykorgan); exhibition dedicated to the 95th anniversary of Akhmet Zhubanov (2023). She was also awarded certificates of honor from the Union of Artists of the Republic of Kazakhstan “Zhetisu”, the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Kazakhstan in 2021 and from akim of the Zhetisu region and Panfilovsky district.
The artist’s works are kept in museums and private collections in Kazakhstan, near and far abroad. The anniversary exhibition will feature more than 60 works created over the years of her creative activity.
